日本に帰って気づいたこと / Things noticed since I got back in Japan
９年というイギリス生活を終えて、日本に帰ってきて気づいたこと。
それは環境の変化です！
特にびっくりしたのは、かたつむりをぜんっぜん見かけないこと！
私の子どもの頃は、６月のカレンダーと言えばかたつむりにあじさい以外ない！というくらいの王道コンビだったのに・・・。
帰国してから回りの人たちにこのことを伝えると、みんな一様に「そういえば・・・」というリアクションなのも興味深いです。
やっぱりだんだん変化してきたものには、あまり気づかないものなんですよね。
あとスズメの数も絶対減ったと思います！
前は電信柱にずらーーーーーーーーーーーーーっとスズメがとまってたと思います！最近見かけても結構ちいさめのグループだったりするので、やはり心配です。
思えばイギリスの９年でも、断然夏はあったかくなってきていました。
回りに普通に息づいていた生き物が、少なくなることがあるなんて考えた事もなかったんですが、実際にそれを肌で感じると、ちょっとショックです。
う〜ん、温暖化が深刻なんだなー、どうしたらいいのかなーと考えた夜でした。
When I moved back in Japan after 9 years of life in London, I noticed a few big changes in the wildlife around my home town.
One big surprise was that I didn't see snails at all in the rainy season. Having snails on hydrangeas was the all time symbol of the rainy season, and every calender had that image for June. What's more interesting is that no one around me noticed the decrease of snails before I told them.
Another shock was that I didn't see as many sparrows as I used to.
They used to gather a big group and be loud during the day.
I often saw sparrow's nests here and there too.
Honestly it's shocking to see such change in the environment I grew up. I never thought those familiar creatures could vanish.
The temperature's definitely ascending. I wonder what I can possibly do to help slow down the global warming.
