これです！これがかえるどん。
今夜もバクバクと虫を食べています。食欲旺盛です。かれこれ１時間以上食べ続けています。絶対来週はダイエットするべきだと思う！

この前の深夜、暑かったので網戸にして仕事をしていたら、のそのそと一匹のかえるどんが網戸を登ってきた。デスクランプをつけて仕事をしているので、もちろん網戸は光に誘われてやってきた小さな虫でいっぱい！

そのかえるどんは、「しめしめ！」というようにじーーーーーーーっと機会を伺ってはパックパックと虫を食べていた。
私からはかえるどんの大きくなったおなかと口の中（というか喉まで）が見える。おもしろい。まさに虫のバイキング状態じゃないか！

かえるって長い舌をぴっとだして虫を舌の先にくっつけて食べるんですよね？
（違いましたっけ？）でもぜんっぜん舌が見えませんでした。普通にパクパク食べているように見えたんだけど、あれは舌が超高速で出入りしていて、見えなかったんだろうか・・・う〜ん、奥が深いかえるどんの食事！

即買いしました。そして今でも大切にながめてます。
TARA Publishingといつか仕事をしてみたいです。

An Indian publisher, TARA Publishing's books are very original, creative, and just so cool! This is one of theirs, Beast of India.

Beautifully drawn animals by various tribes of India!
As soon as I saw this book, I snatched it off the shelf and bought it before anybody else touched it :-) I would love to work with TARA publishing sometime.

地図ってりっぱな絵本ですよね〜。
ぐるぐる道をたどって旅できちゃうんだから、こんな安くて深い旅行はない！こちらは古いロンドンの地図。確かアンティークマーケットで買った気がします。４色刷りで美しい！ロンドンのすごいところは、道の名前も町並みもほとんどこの時代のまま！ロンドンに住んでいた時は、普通にこの地図もって出かけていました。真新しいA to Z（ロンドンの地図）よりかっこいいじゃないですか。

I think Maps are absolute picture books!
I got this antique map of London in Kingston when I was in Uni.
What surprise me is that most of streets and major buildings stay the same as the time this map was published.(It's a shame the publication date isn't printed)
I used to carry this map round with me. I thought this was much cooler than the latest A to Z!

版画大好きです！
大学時代は、エッチングにスクリーンにリトグラフィーと、あるだけ全部試して楽しかったです。自分ではうまくできなかったけど、リトグラフィーって、柔らかい表現から固い線まで、表現の幅が広くてあこがれます。

上のはNYで出版されたWild Fire、1963年出版、第一版。山火事が発生して、鎮火するまで、そして動物たちが逃げ回るようすを描いた本。全編リトグラフィーで、なんだか衝動買いしてしまった覚えが・・・。大英博物館周辺の古本屋さんだったので、結構高かった気が・・・むむむ。
でも今では大切な本の一つです。ロンドン滞在初期を思い出させてくれる一冊でもあるんですな。

I Love printmaking!
I used to try all sorts of medium when I was in uni. I did screen printing, etching, and lithography. I wasn't good at lithography at all, but I love the texture and expressions this medium has.

This book was published in NY, 1963. It's called "the wild fire".
The story is very simple.Basically, it's telling from the beginning of the wild fire to the end, and how animals got affected by it.
I thought the lithography was beautiful that time, and bought it instantly although it wasn't particularly well priced.(ouch!)
Well, but still this is one thing reminds me of the beginning of my stay in London, and brings me back all the memories of that time.



そしてこちらはチェコのリトグラファー、Petr Niklの作品。
この人の本物のリトグラフィーがプラハのギャラリーで売っていて、本気で買おうと思いました。そして買っておけばよかった！と後悔！
この本は現地で買えなくて、友達が誕生日プレゼントにくれました。
この世界・・・圧倒的！

This is by a Czech lithographer, Petr Nikl.
I saw his original work at a gallery in Prague. I seriously should have bought it!I couldn't find this book during my stay in Prague.
My friend gave me for my birthday.(Bless her!)

やはり絵本には興味があります。
なので、本棚からひっぱり出した、旅先で買った絵本やら、古本やらに日の目を見せてあげたい！ので紹介させてください。

好きな絵本の一冊はコレ↑チェコの一冊。
お話絵本というより、詩集に絵が入ったものです。引っ掻いて描いたみたいな独創的な絵がおもしろくて気に入ってます。
チェコ語の詩が読めないのが残念！でもこの絵から判断するに、きっと奇怪な感じなんだろうな〜。

It's not a big collection, but I've got a few dozens of books from the countries I traveled, and antique books from various junk sales.
Looking at them makes me want to write, and illustrate better books than ones I've done so far.

This is one of my favourite, from Czech republic.
This is an anthology of poems. The scratchy lines create original, and unique world of this illustrator. It's pretty dark, but the characters are doing hilarious things.
It's a shame I can't read Czech, but as this illustration, the poems must be quirky as well!

ってむずかしいですね！

よ〜し今度こそ毎日くらい、いや、毎日は無理でも３日に一度くらい、いや、3日に一度が無理だとしても一週間に一度は日記を書くぞ！！！などと思っているうちにすぐ一ヶ月過ぎちゃうんですもん。
大きいことやったら日記を書くもんだと言う頭があるのですが、そんなできごとはそうそうあるもんでもない。

作品制作の日々あるのみ！
忙しいときはめっぽう忙しくなるこのお仕事。今がその時な感じです。
でも忙しいと人間、火事場のクソ力がホントにでるんですね！そして楽しい！まずは一つ目の〆切に向かって、ドーンとがんばります！

しかし好きな事やって、世間様にお披露目する場を頂ける仕事ができるって、こんな幸せな事はないです。最近いい出会いも多くなってきて、うれしいなあ。ありがたき幸せ〜

なんとなくテンプレート変えてみました。この方が文字が濃いめなので、読みやすいかな〜と思って。

I've been trying to keep up with my diary, but it's not quite so easy, is it? A month flies away before I realise!

I've been working on a new book for the past few months. The deadline is coming up in the middle of next month.
I guess all freelancers are just like this, but when I'm free, I'm soooooooooooooooooooo free that I want to go away to India. And when I'm busy, I'm tooooooooo busy that I'm desperate to run away to Laos too. Still I'm so lucky to be able to do this almost-entirely-self produced work. It's true that I feel the happiest when I'm very very hectic with illustration.
